Ok so it says it all on my heading. How do you do it/
I am trying to listen to a long MP3 on my computer and I am playing it through Itunes. I hit an arrow button in the middle of listening and it started it all over. Is there a way to fast forward or anything? Thanks.

Or short files for that matter. I'm bumping this topic up because I really want to know, too.

CTRL + ALT + left or right arrows.

I haven't tried it in quite some time cause I stopped using iTunes for mp3's because that function was broken.

HTH

If you're using jaws then you'll probably need to use the bypass command insert + 3 on the number row.

Jaws will think you want to navigate a table otherwise.

It's rather annoying, but I don't really know if there's a way around it.

NVDA doesn't have that problem, even though the table navigation keystrokes are the same.

thanks, I will try that. and freedom says that it is an Itunes things not jaws so they can't help. LOL!

Crap, I can tell you how to do it from a Mac user's perspective. I have not used iTunes on a windows machine in well over a year.
I am sorry if this is completely useless, but on a Mac using an Apple bluetooth keyboard, F7 and F9 are rewind and fast-forward. I am not sure how this would work if you're using a USB keyboard. Anyway, hold down either of those keys and you'll start moving through the file. I discovered this by accident.

thanks, but it doesn't work. maybe some day we will figure it out.

Blarg. I was hoping one of these would have worked because I'd like to be able to do this as well.
So, if you do an incert 3 as a by-pass, do you hit control alt arrow at the same time or shortly there after? If at the same time, wow, that's allot of fingers. lol
Making one of the function keys perform that command as Macs apparently do, is a smashing idea.

hey, i was just reading on another thread and someone said that there are scripts for Itunes.
called blind tunes.
http://www.blindtunes.net/

I installed them and it works great. You can rewind and things.

I've never had to use scripts for iTunes.

To answer the question about the bypass command, it's insert plus 3 on the numbers row, followed by the keys you need to press.

It's not all done at the same time.

The keyboard won't work with that many combinations.

I think the most a keyboard can handel is about 5 key presses, but I'm getting off topic.

All the bypass command does is tell the screen reader to ignore the next set of keys you press, so it's like the screenreader is temporarily not running.

I can use itunes ok without the scripts but hey, if they help out even a bit then cool. and I am glad to hear of the multi key commands, I think thought that just doing control left and right arrows is a bit quicker for me to do. But glad to hear that there is an option.
Thanks for clearing it up.
